All strata buildings in NSW must not have a window opening at more than 12.5cm. This applies to openable windows that are two meters above the ground and within 1.7 meters inside.
Window safety locks or devices can be installed to ensure the opening is no greater than the legal requirement.

Owners corporations must have devices installed on all applicable common property windows by 13 March 2018. The safety devices must be robust and childproof.
